Welcome: Articles for the home DIY enthusiast:

Inexpensively and Very Stylishly!

The mistake many people make when they are carrying out a DIY project is that they literally do everything on the cheap, from the fixtures and fittings to the decoration. This often has the effect of making the whole project look inferior, whereas with a bit of thought it can be inexpensive AND good quality.

The trick is to buy cheap on the core, staple items but splash out a little with all the money you have saved on a few key items which will make all the difference in the world. So your DIY home store fireplace might be an absolute bargain, but teamed up with an antique mirror, hey presto, you have a stylish and expensive looking period fireplace.

The quality of much of what is available in DIY stores nowadays is well suited to contemporary tastes. Understated colours, simple clean lines, right up to date in the style stakes. You can decorate a room very tastefully without spending too much cash, leaving you with a little extra for other items.

Picture a cream, simple lounge. Easy to decorate yourself and very inexpensive too. Add a few good quality cushion covers and a couple of throws and maybe a couple of oak bookcases. There you have a right up to the minute modern lounge.

Know when to scrimp and when to splash out and it will make the world of difference to your home.
